Risks and side effects

Complications
Complications associated with the surgery are rare. The major type of complication is improper alignment of implant. In such cases, a second operation may be needed to reposition the implant properly. Very rarely nerve damage can also occur. It can result in bleeding and numbness.
Before and after surgery
Use of medicines like ibuprofen, aspirin and other types of anti-inflammatory medicines should be avoided two weeks prior to surgery. As healthy diet can heal the effect of surgery, try to follow a balance diet. Avoid taking drinks and food six hours before surgery. Do not wear tight shirts or other dress materials that has to be pulled over your face.
It will be better to seek assistance for conveyance to and from hospital. After surgery, the area may feel swollen, tight and uncomfortable due to implant. Physical activities should be limited for one week after surgery. Liquid diet will be suitable for cases with incision inside mouth.
